"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." Psalm 119:105
A couple of nights ago, I woke up from a deep sleep and needed a drink of water. It was so dark in my room that I couldn't even see my feet hit the ground. As I swung my feet down to the floor, I hit something that wasn't there when I got in the bed to go to sleep. My son had come to my room in the middle of the night and was sleeping in a blanket down by my bed. Of course, I was shocked and almost fell head first into the wall. It didn't get any better. After I got my balance back, I stumped my toe on the door frame going into the kitchen. Once I got my water, I realized it wasn't worth it! I think sometimes that's the way life is for us. Sometimes it is dark; instead of praying and being patient in those moments, we just trudge through the darkness getting hurt and hurting others in our path. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." We need to take time and study God's word. We need to pray for His light to shine in our darkness. We need to pray for patience, so that in those dark moments we will know when and where to step. Not only do we need the lamp for our feet, but also we need the light of truth on our paths. The light that God gives us will indeed keep us from getting hurt many times. But God's light for us will also keep us from hurting others, too. Maybe God's Word is what you've been needing all this time. Do you need a lamp for the darkness in your life?
