"Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did - with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses." 2 Kings 23:25
Josiah was eight years old when he became king of Judah. His story is documented in 2 Kings 22 - 23. Even as a young king, the Bible says, "He did what was right in the eyes of Lord and followed completely the ways of his father David, not turning aside to the right or to the left." But that's not why 2 Kings 23:25 says, "Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did - with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses." When Josiah was twenty-six years old, his servants found the Book of the Law while rebuilding the temple. They brought the book to Josiah and read it to him. Josiah was heavily convicted by God's Word. He humbly responded to God from his heart. And that is the key. Josiah experienced revival in his heart. What was happening on the inside became very evident on the outside. He tore his robes, he humbled himself, and he wept. 2 Kings 22:19 says that God heard him and promised him peace. Josiah made many changes in Israel. He wanted to please his God because he was revived. And that is why the Bible says there was never a king before him or after him "who turned to the Lord as he did." That's an incredible description, not only of a king but of a man, as well! What would happen today if we experienced revival like Josiah did? What would happen today if we turned to Him with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our strength? Do you really want God to hear you? Do you really want God's peace? Do you really want revival?
