"I will give thanks to You, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing the praises of Your name, O Most High." Psalm 9:1-2
I was driving home and couldn't wait to tell my wife about Katie Beth's great softball practice! I was so proud of her! She hit the ball really well. She fielded it really well. She threw it really well. This may have just been practice, but nonetheless, I was one proud daddy! So instead of waiting to tell her mom when we got home, I called her and started singing the praises of my little Katie Beth. We do these kinds of things, don't we? We sing the praises of our kids, and sometimes we even sing our own praises. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we can't be proud of our kids or even proud of ourselves when we accomplish great things. But I do believe our first praises and our loudest praises should be to God. Psalm 9:3-4 goes on to say, "I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing the praises of Your name, O Most High." David sang out to God with all his heart. In other words, he was sincere in what he was saying and in what he was doing. Do you sincerely love God? Do you sincerely sing your praises to Him? Do you sincerely tell others about His wonderful deeds? Do you sincerely rejoice in Him? Let's be be glad and rejoice in Him. Let's sincerely give Him thanks. Let's sing His praises so that others will know of His wonderful deeds.
