"All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all of our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away." Isaiah 64:6
Another lie that Satan spreads is that compared to this person or that person, my sins are worse. Many people have bitten into this free fruit that Satan is giving away, and they have refused to turn to God because they don't feel worthy compared to the "good" people around them. Even at our very best, we ALL are like "filthy rags" compared to God's righteousness. Isaiah goes on to say, "We ALL shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away." Paul says in Romans 3:10, "There is no one righteous, not even one." He goes on to say in verse 23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Remember, Satan is like a roaring lion who prowls around for people to devour. He is the father of lies. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He loves it when we compare ourselves to other people, whether good or bad. Satan would rather us look at each other rather than looking to the perfect One who can heal and forgive us. Isaiah says earlier in 53:5, "Be He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed." Satan doesn't want you to have peace. He wants you to be mired in confusion, doubt, and despair. Christ died so that you and I could be healed and forgiven. He rose again so that you and I could have life and life to the full, eternal life! Don't compare yourself to anyone else. If anything, compare yourself to the perfect One, Jesus, and own up to your shortcomings. But remember those words, "The punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed." Be healed today by the blood of the One who died for you.
