"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
One thing the world could use a lot more of these days is hope. It seems like many people have lost hope today or, quite possibly, they never had it. Families are falling apart. Jobs are being wiped out. Moral decay amongst our young people is climbing. Where is the hope? Hope doesn't come from a nice family life. It doesn't come from a high paying job. Hope doesn't come from winning a competition. It doesn't come from education or newfound knowledge. Hope comes from God. As Christ followers, we have the hope of God springing up within us through the presence of the Holy Spirit. Paul prays in Romans 15:13, "May the God of hope fill you all with joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Paul understood that hope came from God. He understood that God could fill believers with joy and peace which would produce an overflow of hope that would spill into the community. That's what we need today. We need Christ followers who are trusting God and allowing Him to fill them with joy and peace that leads to an overflow of hope! We need to be a people who trust God in everything. We need to be a people filled with joy and peace, so that the hope of God will pour out of us and into a community that desperately needs to find it.
