He is not here; He has risen!

"Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here; He has risen!"  Luke 24:5-6

There have been a lot of good men in the history of the world.  There have been good prophets, good teachers, good preachers, and good leaders.  Jesus is more than a good prophet, good teacher, good preacher, or good leader.  Jesus is the Messiah!  Jesus is the Savior!  Jesus lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death, and He rose from the grave!  He defeated sin and death once and for all.  We don't celebrate a Savior who WAS; we celebrate a Savior who IS!!!  He is alive today!  I love what Acts 2:33-33 says: "God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.  Exalted to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear."  As Christ followers, the Holy Spirit fills our hearts and our minds.  We experience the presence of God in us because of what Jesus did on the cross!  That is why we celebrate Easter:)  Jesus died and rose again so that we may have life and have it to the full.  We look for life in many places: our families, our jobs, our hobbies, etc.  In Luke 24:5-6, these ladies went to pay their last respects to Jesus, who they thought was dead.  But two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning said, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here; He is risen!"  We are doing the same thing today.  We are looking for life in dead places.  Life is not found in family.  Life is not found in a job. Life is not found in a hobby.  Life is not found out there.  Life is found in Jesus.  Jesus told us in John 10:10 that he came so that "they may have life and have it to the full."  He said in John 11:25, "I am the resurrection and the life.  The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die."  And He said in John 14:6, "I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."  Life is found in Jesus; it is not found in anyone or anything else.  Jesus saves us from sin and from death.  He wakes us up from our dying slumber, and we walk in eternal life when we place our faith and trust in Him.  He gives us life to the that can include families, jobs, hobbies, and more.  So instead of looking for life in dead places, look for life in the right place (or person)...His name is Jesus.

I would love to hear your comments...
