"Wisdom reposes (rests) in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known." Proverbs 14:33
Studies show that today more than ever, people are living with higher levels of stress. We are stressed out about many things: family, jobs, economy, relationships, church, future, etc. I don't believe God created us in His image so that we could live a life full of stress. I don't believe Jesus died on the cross to free us from our sins and give us abundant life just so we could live a life of worry and fear. Proverbs 14:33 says that "wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning." Verse 30 says, "A heart at peace gives life to the body." And Proverbs 12:25 says, "Anxiety weighs down the heart." Jesus said in John 10:10 that the thief came to "steal, kill, and destroy" your life, but Jesus came so that you could have "life and have it to the full." There are times when stress is unavoidable in our lives. There are times when stress is brought on by others. However, many times we bring the stress on ourselves, and we choose to carry it with us and let it weigh us down. The opposite of stress is peace. Maybe today we need to stop trying to control everyone and everything in our lives and just let God have control. That is what our relationship with Him is all about: SURRENDER. We need to surrender to Him...trust Him...submit to Him. When we do that, He will grant us wisdom, understanding, and peace. Then and only then will we be able to live life fully...the way God intends for us to live.
