"Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, LISTEN TO HIS VOICE, and hold fast to Him. For the Lord is your life." Deuteronomy 30:19-20
Yesterday, I listened to one of my favorite Colton Dixon songs, "Noise." The song begins with these lines: "Everyday is a car alarm that I don't know how to disarm. Where is the silence, that simple silence?" He goes on to sing, "Everything is noise. Everything is screaming out! I need to hear Your voice reminding me that at the end of the day, no matter what the sound I'll be ok, even through the noise." When I listened to his lyrics about the noise we hear day in and day out in our lives, I couldn't help but think of this Scripture that my wife read to our family during our devotional time. Deuteronomy 30:20 says, "Listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him. For the Lord is your life." Many times throughout our day we are listening to so much noise, and we miss God's voice. God's voice is the most important voice in our lives. We need to be in tune with Him. We need to listen to His voice. We need to hold fast to Him. In the noisy times of your day, try to find that simple silence. Listen and you will hear God speaking. There are a lot of things competing for my time and my attention...things that are sometimes important to me...things that I think bring me life. But God's Word clearly tells me that the Lord is my life. Today, I am praying that God will give me the focus and the attention to drown out all the noise that comes my way and help me hear His voice that truly gives me life!
