"A happy heart makes the face cheerful..." Proverbs 15:13
"A cheerful heart is good medicine..." Proverbs 17:22
This weekend, I enjoyed quality time with my wife and my kids. We watched movies, we went swimming, and we went to church. The best thing about my weekend was simple: I loved hearing my children laugh loudly! Proverbs 15:13 says, "A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit." Proverbs 17:22 says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:4 that there is "a time to weep and a time to laugh." This weekend was a time to laugh for us. The loud laughter of my kids brought me happiness. It was good medicine! I had a happy heart and a cheerful face to go along with it! I thank God for my family! He has blessed me with an amazing wife and beautiful children. And this weekend, He reminded me of what really makes me happy: being loved by Him and loving Him in return and having the capacity to love my family and be loved by them in return.
