The end of all things is near…

"The end of all things is near.  Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.  Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.  Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.  Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."   1 Peter 4:7-10

Wars and rumors of wars?  False prophets?  Men becoming lovers of themselves?  Prophecies being fulfilled?  Throughout the Bible we read the stories of beginning...creation...Genesis.  We also read the stories of the end...conclusion...Revelation.  We read the stories of heaven and of hell.  As Christ followers, we have been called out by God.  We do not belong to this world.  We belong to God.  We are His children.  We are co-heirs with Christ to all that belongs to God.  We are heaven bound!  Thank God for His mercy and His grace!  Because of our sin, we deserve hell, but we get heaven.  Peter tells us in 1 Peter 4:7, "The end of all things is near."  But instead of responding out of fear and confusion and chaos, we can and should respond with alertness and wisdom from God.  We can and should respond with prayer and with love.  Many people are beginning to ask questions about the events that are taking place in our world...wars and rumors of wars...false prophets...catastrophic natural disasters.  This is an opportunity for Christ followers to share the truth of God's Word with those around us.  This is an opportunity to use Christ's love that "covers over a multitude of sins."  This is an opportunity to lead others in prayer.  This is an opportunity to serve others with the gift(s) that God has given us.  I am reminded of what Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline."  Today, Christ followers, let's allow the Spirit of God to fill us and to flow through us powerfully.  Let's be the hands and feet of Jesus everywhere we go.  Why?  Because the end of all things is near.  And we have the Hope of all mankind living inside us.  The Hope of the world is Jesus!  Let's share Hope today with a world that is dying and lost.

I would love to hear your comments...
