"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." Mark 1:35
"After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray." Mark 6:46
"They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, 'Sit here while I pray.' He took Peter, James, and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 'My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,' he said to them. 'Stay here and keep watch.'" Mark 14:32-34
Prayer is essential in the life of the believer! Throughout the gospels we find Jesus praying. In the book of Mark, we see Jesus pray many times in many different places at many different times. Jesus prayed in the morning. He prayed at night. Jesus prayed in the solitary places. He prayed in public places. Jesus prayed alone. He prayed with His disciples. Jesus prayed in the desert. He prayed on the mountainside. Jesus prayed! Jesus stayed in direct communication with the Father at all times. He prayed for Himself. He prayed for His disciples. He prayed for the lost. As Christ followers, we should be found praying like Jesus. We should be found praying in the solitary places and the public places. We should pray alone, and we should pray together. We should pray in the desert places and on the mountainsides. We should pray for ourselves, and we should pray for others. Prayer is essential for us to know God deeper and more intimately. If you find me praying, I hope you find me praying like Jesus!
