"Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge." Psalm 62:5-8
Each and every day, I come along side of people who are hurting. Some are hurting physically, some spiritually, some emotionally, and some relationally. I have compassion for all these people, but the ones that truly break my heart are the ones who believe they have nowhere to go, no one to turn to. Satan has used lie after lie, storm after storm to break people. Satan would love for us to believe that this life is empty: empty of hope, empty of joy, empty of relationship, and empty of refuge. However, the Bible tells us we do have hope. We do have refuge. God loves us! God SO loves us! Just go to John 3:16 and see for yourself. God's love is active and alive. God's love moved Him to give. He gave His only Son to die for us. He gave so that we might have...have life, eternal life, abundant life. God gives us hope, and His hope is His Son, Jesus Christ. God is our rock! He saved us from our sins; He saved us from the penalty of our sins, which is eternal death, separation from Him, from His love in a place called "hell." God is our fortress; He is our refuge.
For those of you who are struggling right now...in your job, in your home, in your relationships, in life...trust in God. Trust in His mercy and His grace. Trust in His plan for you. Seek Him with all your heart, and you will find Him. Psalm 9:9-10 says, "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you." That is why Paul, in Romans 10:13, said, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Salvation does not depend upon you or me. Salvation depends upon God, and the Bible says He will not forsake those who seek Him. Don't allow Satan to feed you the lies that no one cares for you, that you are alone, that you have no value or purpose, that you have no place to rest or to go. Read (out loud) and believe in your heart 1 Peter 5:7 that says, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." Repeat these words and believe them: "God is MY refuge, MY fortress! I will not be shaken!"
