Let us…

"Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."   Hebrews 10:22-25

I love this passage of Scripture in Hebrews 10:22-25.  As Christ followers, this is an important exhortation that we not only need to hear but one that we also need to live by.  In this passage we see the phrase "let us" three different times.  "Let us" is a plural verb phrase.  That is important for two reasons:  we are in this faith journey together and we are actively involved.  As Christ followers, we are called out as God's children through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  However, we are also brought together as brothers and sisters in Christ.  Satan would love to divide and conquer.  He would love to run you or me away from the encouraging family of believers God has brought us to.  God gives us each other as blessings of love and encouragement!  The first "let us" is important because we are drawn near to God with our hearts.  The second "let us" is important because we are drawn near to Christ (our hope) through our mouths (our confession).  The third "let us" is important because we are drawn near to the Church (brothers and sisters in Christ) through our action (meeting together).  What a blessing from God!  God is my Father!  His Son, Jesus Christ, is my Savior, and I am a co-heir with Christ to all that God possesses!  The Church, my brothers and sisters in Christ, is my home and my family, and I both give and receive encouragement from her!  We really need to think about this passage of Scripture today.  We need to thank God for this amazing blessing today.  Let us draw near to God with our hearts.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope that we profess with our mouths.  Let us consider how we may continue to spur one another on toward love and good deeds through encouragement and gathering together.  Never believe the lie or lies that Satan tells you when he says that you are better off alone or that no one cares or that no one understands.  Let us...

I would love to hear your comments...
