Water for a thirsty land…

"For I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants and My blessing on your offspring."   Isaiah 44:3

I remember working on the farm when I was a teenager.  We would plow the ground, row it up, and plant the seeds in the spring.  But then summer would come, and that meant that the rains would disappear.  We would go days and even weeks without one drop of rain from the sky.  The ground would get so dry and dusty, and the plants would begin to wilt and dry up as well.  That's when we would move the irrigation system into the fields and begin pumping water into the ground.  I remember sitting there, watching the water hit the ground, and watching the plants.  I could actually hear the soil singing as the water moved across the fields.  I could actually see the plants dancing as their roots received the water from the soil.

I have been there before spiritually...dry!  I have been so dry in my walk with God before, and like the soil and the plants in the fields, my life needed revival.  I needed the Spirit of God to fall fresh on me like rain falling on the fields.  It wasn't that God left me or forsook me; it was actually the other way around.  I was running from God.  I wanted to do things my way.  I was selfish.  But God's Spirit shook me, and I repented of my sins.  I called on God to bless me with His presence.  Isaiah 44:3 says, "For I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants and My blessing on your offspring."  My heart was the dry ground.  My life was the thirsty land.  And when I prayed for God's Spirit to fall fresh on me, He blessed me with His presence like never before!  He poured out His Spirit in my life, and I began to sing praises to Him.  Like the soil in the field, I sang joyously to God!  Like the plants in the field, I danced joyously to God!  If you are in a dry season in your spiritual walk with God, please understand that God hasn't left you.  He is right there.  You just have to turn to Him and call on Him to pour out His Spirit on your life.  He will pour out His Spirit upon you like the rains that fall on the dry land, and you, too, can sing and dance joyously before Him!!!

I would love to hear your comments...
