Why is my life so confusing?

"If you hold to my teachings, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."   John 8:31-32

Someone recently asked me, "Why is my life so confusing?"  That six-word question is really deep, and I had to dig deeper by asking more questions.  "What part of your life is confusing right now?"  "How many voices do you hear or are you trying to listen to in your life right now?"  "Is there anyone in your life that you completely trust right now?"  "Do you have a place of solitude where you can be alone with God?"  I fired the questions one after the other.  The responses were staggering.  I believe there are many people today who are leading confusing lives.  What's worse is that many of these people believe that is just the way life is supposed to be.  However, God's Word tells us something different.  His Word tells us that we can live life to the full (John 10:10).  His Word tells us that we can see and know the truth and that the truth will set us free (John 8:31-32).  Jesus tells us in John 14:6, "I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE."  Jesus tells us in John 8:44 that Satan "was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When  he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."  Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 14:33, "For God is not a God of disorder but of peace."

I believe Satan is attacking us today with everything he can get his hands on.  He is attacking us with technology, with media, with people, and even with self.  How does Satan attack us with these things?  He lies.  He tells us lie after lie after lie, and we believe him many times.  We believe that technology is truth and life.  We believe in the life that we see in the media.  We believe that people bring us life.  We need to be careful!  Paul tells us in Galatians 1:7, "Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ."  And what is really dangerous is that we believe that if we have everything we want then we will have life...peace and happiness and prosperity and truth.  We need to be careful!  James 3:16 says, "For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you will find DISORDER and every evil practice."

If your life is filled with confusion right now on every level, you need to find a place of solitude where you can be alone with God.  Pray to God like the psalmist in 139:23-24: "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting."  Trust Jesus when He said in Matthew 6:33, "Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."  What things?  Life, food, drink, clothes, etc...(see Matthew 6:25-34).  It all comes through and from a relationship with Jesus.  Fully embrace the way of the cross that  Jesus talked about in Mark 8:34-36: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.  For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.  What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"  The real battle in a confusing life is whose voice you are listening to consistently and believing in daily.  If you continue to give ear to Satan's lies and Satan's way of life, then confusion and disorder will be waiting for you day after day.  But if you give ear to the Word of God, if you turn your heart to Jesus, then truth will be yours...and the truth will set you free!  The truth will set you free to live life the way God created you to live!!!  Truth has a name, and His name is Jesus!!!

Life is full of changes and uncertainty. You must have a strong foundation to fall back on in order to make the right choices. Be strong in the Lord and he wil not lead you astray.
