YOU ARE MINE

"But now, this is what the Lord says - he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."   Isaiah 43:1-3

Three of my favorite words in the Bible are "YOU ARE MINE."  Let that sink in for just a moment.  The God of all creation, the God who has always been, the God who is in complete control says to His children, "YOU ARE MINE."  As humans, we are born into this world with a sense of belonging.  We want to belong...whether it is to another person, to a family, to a job or position, or even to a geographical location...belonging is in our nature.  We chase after belonging.  And when we don't belong, we struggle to make it anywhere and in anything.  Yet, God says to us, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; YOU ARE MINE."  When Jesus came into this world, He lived a perfect, sin-free life.  He died a humiliating and sacrificial death.  He victoriously rose from the grave, defeating death and sin.  Jesus did all of this for you and for me!  When we admit and take responsibility of our sin to God and we believe in our hearts that Jesus did this for us, we become children of God!  And Jesus is not finished.  Romans 8:34 says, "Who is he that condemns?  Christ Jesus, who died - more than that, who was raised to life - is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us."  God loves us!  God redeems us!  God knows us by name!  And 1 John 4:4 tells us that we belong to God!  I don't know where you are in life right now.  I don't know if you are searching for a person or for a place of belonging.  I don't know if this world has beat you down and trampled all over you and made you feel worthless.  But if you are are a Christ follower, I do know this: God says, "YOU ARE MINE!"  Believe it!  Claim it!  Live it!

I would love to hear your comments...
