"As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved." Ephesians 2:1-5
This morning as I was driving in to the office, I prayed this simple prayer: "Lord, thank You for reminding me of who I was before Your great love saved me. Thank You for reminding me of who I am today because of Your great love for me. Help me to never forget who I was...who I am. Amen." I know I didn't say a lot, but I did say enough. I am thankful to God that He found me even in my sin and rescued me from the bondage of sin and the penalty of sin. In Romans 5:6-8, I love what Paul said to the church: "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were sinners, Christ died for us." Paul told the church in Ephesus that they, too, were once dead in their sins, but God loved them and made them alive in Christ. This morning I was blown away by thinking about God's great love for me. I am thankful to be alive in Christ, no longer dead in my sin!!! Today, think about God's great love for you. Thank Him for saving you even while you were powerless in your sin. Thank Him for the life you have in Christ!!!
