"Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through all my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.' And you forgave the guilt of my sin." Psalm 32:1-5
"And you forgave." I love those three words! One of my favorite passages in the Bible is found in 1 John 1. God's Word tells us that we are sinners and that we can be forgiven and cleansed if we just confess our sins to Him; He is faithful and just. If we claim that we have no sin, then we deceive ourselves and make God out to be a liar. However, we know that Satan is the liar, the father of lies. God is truth. God is love. God is forgiveness. I also love these words of David In Psalm 32. David tried many times to conceal his sin from man and from God. It was his sin that caused him so much grief. It was his sin that separated him from God...from God's truth...from God's love...from God's forgiveness. David suffered in his silence; his "bones wasted away through" his "groaning all day long." David's "strength was sapped" from his body. David was exhausted from concealing his sin. But God never left David. God's heavy hand of conviction brought David to a place of confession and repentance. David confessed his sin before God, and God forgave him. David was refreshed by God, and he rejoiced in God's truth, In God's love, in God's forgiveness! Peter says in Acts 3:19, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."
I don't know where you are today in your walk with God. I don't know if you are in a place of denying your sin before God or acknowledging your sin before God. But I do know that God is truth. God is love. God is forgiveness. To deny your sin before Him is to invite pain and exhaustion and turmoil into your life. To deny your sin before him is to agree with Satan, the father of lies. Can you feel God's heavy hand of conviction on your life? Today you have a chance to turn to God in repentance and confession. Today you have a chance to be refreshed and strengthened. Today your sins can be wiped out!!! Three words will make a difference in my life today: "And you forgave!" I believe in God's truth today! I believe in God's love today! I believe in God's forgiveness today! Do you believe? Do you want to be refreshed? Do you want your sins to be wiped out? God will do it! Believe it! Claim it! Live it!
