"Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up." Luke 18:1
Over the past few days, weeks, and months, I've watched the news and read the articles on the internet about the tragedies that are taking place in our state, in our country, and in our world. Almost every day there is a natural disaster or a plane crash or a train crash. What's worse, almost every day there is another shooting, another terrorist act, or another violent attack. Our world is broken in so many ways. If you are like me, many times you feel helpless. However, there is something we can do about the brokenness in our world. WE CAN PRAY! Jesus told His disciples to always pray and never give up praying in Luke 18. Jesus told them a parable, and He taught them about consistently praying in all circumstances. The context of this passage was about God's justice and the coming of the Lord. Jesus said in Luke 18:7-8, "And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" God is holy and just and loving and merciful! When His people cry out to Him, He hears them and answers them. If you are heartbroken about the condition of the world we live in, then pray. DON'T GIVE UP PRAYING!!! May God's people intentionally pray like never before! May God's mercy and justice be poured out upon the world in which we live! May Jesus come and make all things right and new! Amen!
