Truth in the Midst of Confusion

"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to Father except through me.'"   John 14:6

The dictionary says that truth is "a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, or principle."  The dictionary also says that confusion is "disorder, upheaval, or chaos; a lack of clearness or distinction."  The Bible tells us that Jesus is the truth.  John 1:14 says, "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.  The Bible also tells us that Satan is the author of confusion, the father of lies.  John 8:44 says this about Satan: "He was murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

Our world is filled with confusion.  We see disorder and chaos in our families, in our schools, in our communities, and in our world.  Peter reminds us in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be alert and of sober mind.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."  Satan is the author of confusion; he is a liar.  Satan wants to keep families from the truth.  He wants everyone to believe the lies.  Many times we believe the enemy is a person, a group, or a nation.  The enemy is the devil, as Peter has told us.  How can we fight against our enemy the devil?  We must fight from and with the truth - Jesus!  As children of God, our lives are shaped around the truth of Jesus.  John 8:12 says, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."  We need to pray consistently.  We need to study the Word consistently.  Christ in us is the answer to the confusion that fills our world.  Christ in us it the truth the world needs.  Christ in us is the light our dark world needs.  We need to speak the truth in love to anyone and to everyone who will listen.  As long as people continue to believe the lies of Satan and stay in confusion, they will continue to be bound by their sin.  Only Jesus can set them free.  Jesus says in John 8:31-32, "If you hold on to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  Our world needs truth in the midst of confusion.  Our world needs Jesus.  Jesus is the truth.  If you are a Christ follower, you know the truth; you have the truth.  Go and share the truth with the world today!
