The Promise of Wisdom

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."   James 1:5-6

In His Word, God makes promises to His children.  All of God's promises are tied to KNOWING and BELIEVING His Word.  All of God's promises are fulfilled through Jesus Christ, His Son.  As we see in the book of James, God gives His wisdom generously to those who ask for it and believe in Him.  Wisdom is the application and action taken in life using knowledge, judgment, and understanding.  Wisdom comes from God, and wisdom begins and ends with the fear of the Lord.  The fear of the Lord is a deep and holy reverence for God.  Psalm 111:10 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding.  To him belongs eternal praise."  Proverbs 9:10 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."  God created us in His image.  God breathed life into our bodies.  God's promises to us are good and designed to help us live life to the full.  God's promises to us are designed to help transform us into the image of Jesus so that we can shine for Him and bring glory to Him.  Proverbs 9:11-12 says, "For through wisdom you days will be many, and years will be added to your life.  If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer."  Proverbs 10:1 says, "A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother."  And Proverbs 24:3 says, "By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures."

Do you need wisdom today?  Do you want wisdom today?  You can have it.  Ask God for wisdom.  He will give it to you generously.  You have to BELIEVE to RECEIVE...
